Meon Vale

Meon Vale

The Vision

The proposals for Meon Vale seek to create a vibrant new, self-contained, mixed-use development with an extension of Greenway from Stratford upon Avon through the site.

Meon Vale already benefits from:

  • A caravan park, leisure hub, football and cricket pitches, public open space and public access to woodland
  • 800,000 sq ft of retained employment space
  • Planning permission for 1,050 homes of which 284 are already under construction by Persimmon as part of its joint venture with St. Modwen
  • Planning permission for primary school
  • Planning permission for 150 self-catering lodges and 150 holiday homes.

The entire development retains and improves upon existing ecological habitats and landscaping. The rail storage and restoration work will also remain as part of the plans.

In April 2015 planning permission was granted for a further 550 homes, including 35% affordable houses, taking the total number iof homes consented on site to 1,050. A one form entry primary school and relocation of the Leisure accommodation to the western side of the site formed part of this latest planning permission.

The £5m Meon Vale Leisure Centre opened in August 2014 and includes the latest gym equipment, a multi-purpose sports hall, a wide range of workout classes and an all-weather sports pitch. Simultaneously, the central facilities on site also opened, including a shop, community centre, public open space, children’s play area and skate park, 1 mile Greenway extension into Stratford-upon-Avon and a 30 pitch caravan and camping site.
