Ecology & Environment

Meon Vale has been sensitively designed to minimise the impact on local wildlife by retaining important habitats and maintaining or improving pathways to enable species to move freely within the site.

St. Modwen is already committed to ecology at Meon Vale with the conservation of a rare species of butterfly having won the national Marsh Award for the “Promotion of Lepidoptera”, for habitat enhancement and management, supporting the protection of the endangered Grizzled Skipper butterfly.

Further work has now started on site to enhance habitats for water vole, bats, birds, grass snakes and great crested newts.

Overall, with careful design of the development and St. Modwen’s commitment to management of wildlife habitats, the biodiversity of the site will be improved as a result of the development.
